Rivalry will be rekindled this weekend when Hasaacas battle Ebusua Dwarfs at the Sekondi Gyandu Park on Match Day seven of the Division One League.

The two Ghanaian giants will face off against each other in Zone Two. Unlike Ebusua Dwarfs who got relegated only last season, Sekondi Hasaacas have been in the wilderness since 2016 and made huge efforts to return to top flight football but that have yet to yield the needed result.

Ebusua Dwarfs won the Premier League in 1965 and the FA Cup in 1968 – their two major achievements in domestic football. For Sekondi Hasaacas – their biggest achievement dates back to 1977 when they won the Premier League.

The Dooo boys also won the FA Cup 37 years ago. With all these in mind, life hasn’t been easy for the two teams in recent times having been in and out of top flight football. The two giants have a meeting on Sunday at the Gyandu Park and with only one point separating them – the fixture promises to be cagey and cracker.

Sekondi Hassacas are one point richer than their cross border rivals and occupy the fifth spot – one place below the Cape Coast side who sit next to them in the League log with 9 points after six matches in the League. The game is scheduled for the Gyandu Park at 3pm on Sunday, December 26, 2021.

Elsewhere at Sameroboi – leaders Samartex 1996 will host Bekwai Youth Football Academy at home. The home side who sit at the top of the table with 18 points have yet to lose a match in the opening six matches of the season.

Prince Antwi, Richard Gyamfi and Frank Ansere have scored 2 goals each – 4 goals shy of Isaac Mintah of New Edubiase United who has netted six times in the League.  Bekwai Youth are 7th in the table with 9 points – while Samartex occupy the top spot with 18 points.

Second placed New Edubiase United will be at home against 10th placed Basake Holy Stars at the Nana Gyanfi Park at Bekwai.
