Sekondi Hasaacas, Swedru All Blacks and Asokwa Deportivo are among the unimpressive sides in the on-going Division One League season as their below par performances have left them miles behind in the title race.

Leaders Samartex, second placed Nzema Kotoko, New Edubiase United (3rd) and Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs have been battling for the single slot for next season’s Premier League but Samartex have been the Zones’ best team in the first 14 matches of the season.

As the first round of the season fast approaches this weekend, Samartex 1996 stand tall among its peers following a stupendous display that has led to 10 wins, 1 loss and 3 draws from 14 matches - taking them to the summit of Zone Two with 33 points – 6 points ahead of Nzema Kotoko and New Edubiase United who share the second spot with 27 points each.

The only defeat for Samatex was against Sekondi Hasaacas on Match Day 13 as they lost 1-0 at the Gyandu Park – bringing to an end a 12 match unbeaten run. Abeiku Ainooson headed home the only goal of the match inside 31 minutes to give Sekondi Hasaacas a vital win against the League leaders.

The League leaders however recovered from that setback on Match Day 14 when they beat Future Stars 1-0 at home.

The Sameraboi side will aim to end the first round on a high but face an uphill task against New Edubiase United at the Nana Gyamfi Park at Bekwai.

The former Premier League side are third in the table but level on points with Nzema Kotoko – 6 point behind the leaders. They are 13 points adrift of the top and seeking to maintain their status in the second tier after gaining promotion only this season.

A win for Samartex will further tighten their grip at the top of the table but New Edubiase United won’t come cheap as they hold an unbeaten home record in the League.

Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs lost by a lone goal to Skyy FC last weekend at Daboase. The Cape Coast giants conceded a first half penalty at St. Martins Park to lose the encounter which was closely contested with chances coming the way of both sides.

Ebusua Dwarfs have the chance to get back into contention when they host bottom placed Wassaman FC at the Robert Mensah stadium.

With 17 points separating the two sides, Ebusua Dwarfs will head into the game as favourites as they continue to fight their way back into the Premier League.

Elsewhere in Sekondi, Hasaacas welcome Swedru All Blacks to the Gyandu Park. The away side have a 7 point advantage heading into the game as they lie 10th with 20 points – while Sekondi Hasaacas are 14th in the League log with 13 points after 14 matches in the League.
