Black Stars coach, Claude Le Roy took time off celebrating his team’s mini tournament success by reflecting on their strong character which saw them come back from a two-goal deficit to in the finals 4-2 over Benin.

Ghana won the finals of the Zenith Bank 4-Nation International Tournament on Wednesday against a Benin team who by the 46th minute were two goals up.

However, Ghana started the revival in the 47th minute when the first of four goals scored by the Black Stars in the second half was scored.

Though Ghana were reeling under pressure, Le Roy believes this the type of pressure needed to test his team’s character.

“Our character was stretched to the limit and our fight back has solidified our confidence for future engagements,” Claude Le Roy said.

The Ghana coach explains that though there might be tougher opposition than the Benin team, he wants his players to show such hunger during the African Cup of Nations.

“I think to win the Nations Cup, it’s exactly this kind of temper we have to show. You know this team remembers me of my team in Cameroon most times we are down 2:0 coming back 3:2 or 4: 2 or at times 5:3. It’s very important that in the future we have this kind of behaviour because we know what we can do and when you know that, you have to prepare.

“We must not forget that at one moment we were losing 2:0 and it won’t be possible to come back but now we know that we can do that against a good team, Benin, who qualified for the last 16 of the African Cup of Nations. That means that it is not a bad team.

“To be honest, we know that there will be better teams than Benin in the African Cup of Nations, we have to be very clear on that but we know that we possess ways of doing it.”
