Kwaebibirem to test Tema Youth, Royals host All Stars, Young Wise face Lions – Zone Three Preview

Tema Youth crashed to an excruciating 2-0 loss to Liberty Professionals on Match Day 11 of the Division One League at the Carl Reindorf Park on Saturday.

The two former Premier League sides battled for points in what looked a battle of equals with the Harbour Warriors holding a five point advantage over their host. But on the day, Liberty Professionals prevailed by scoring two second goals through Godfred Atuahene  and Eric Addo as they romped to a 2-0 win  to move 4th in the League table with 20 points.

Despite the setback, Tewnma Youth still sit at the tyop of the Zone Three table with 22 points – after 11 matches into the season – one point ahead of Akyem Susubiribi and Kotoku Royals who are in 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

This weekend, the Harbour Warriors will entertain Kwaebibirem United FC at the Tema Park with an aim of returning to winning ways and retaining the top spot as Susubiribi and Kotoku Royals continue to breathe down their neck.

Midfielder Evans Osei Wusu has scored 6 goals and lies behind Jabir Ibrahim in the Zone Three top scorers chart Tema Youth have recovered from an early season shock to display some fine football in the Zone with their rich vein of experience working to their advantage.

They climbed to the top of the Zone Three table after thumping Mighty Jets 5-0 at the Tema Park on Sunday where Evans Osei Wusu grabbed a hat-trick in-between Stephen Appiah Asare’s opener and Richmond Darko’s final goal. The Harbour Warriors comes up against a Kwaebibirem side that lie in 14th place in the League table with 10 points – 12 points behind their hosts.

Kotoko Royals will aim for the three points Akatsi Royals at the Oda Park. The Royals were pegged back at Akosombo by Krystal Palace in a 2-2 draw. The home side have picked up 21 points from 11 matches while Akatsi All Stars sit in 11th place with 13 points – 8 points off their hosts.

Fresh from their 2-1 home loss to Accra City Stars at the Kpando Park, Heart of Lions will travel to play Accra Young Wise at the Doboro Blue Skies Park. The former Premier League side conceded two second half goals to lose to Accra City Stars at the dreaded Kpando Park as they suffered their first home defeat of the season.
