The first round of the Division One League will come to a close this weekend as eight juicy fixtures await us in Zone three.

There have been a number of stellar performances from leaders, Tema Youth and second placed Kotoku Royals but one significant thing that is worth mentioning is the sudden rise of Liberty Professionals, Vision FC and newly promoted side Golden Kicks.

The former, started the competition with four straight draws until Match Day 5 when they trekked to Kpando to shock Hearts of Lions 1-0 at the dreaded Kpando Park.  Youngster Ibrahim Jabir has been one of the star performers in the Zone as his 9 goals in 14 matches have propelled the club from a lowly 12th place to an impressive third position after 14 League matches.

Aside Jabir, Gideon Offei of Vision FC has also been an exciting prospect displaying pace, finesse and an outstanding goal scoring prowess in the Zone.

Offei has scored 8 goals to take the Club from the bottom three to 8th place and could finish – and continues to show class every weekend. Frank Abura Duku is another fine talent who plays alongside Gideon Offei in attack – Duku has scored 5 goals in 12 appearances – a statistic that could improve in the second round of the season.

Evans Osei Wusu and Osah Bernahdinho have scored 7 goals each for Tema Youth and Accra City Stars respectively. The duo are rated among the best players in the League having worked tirelessly for their clubs thus far.

As the first round of the second tier competition draws to a close this weekend, it throws some exciting pairings for lovers of the game especially followers of Zone Three as the two top teams in the Zone - Tema Youth and Kotoku Royals clash at the Oda Park on Sunday.

Two points separate the sides as Tema Youth sit at the top of the table with 30 points – 2 points richer than their host who are in second place with 28 points after 14 matches.

High flying Liberty Professionals who are 3rd in the table will play at home against Susubiribi (7th) at the Carl Reindorf Park on Saturday.

Another match that promises to be pulsating will take place at the Kpando Park where Heart of Lions battle Akatsi All Stars. Both sides have been good in the season but All Stars have recovered from their poor start to the season to climb to a respectable 11th place with 16 points – 2 points above the relegation Zone.
