Kotoko win to finish ahead of Medeama

Asante Kotoko finish ahead of Medeama SC on the Glo Premier League standings after winning the play-off game on Wednesday.

The Porcupine Warriors beat the Tarkwa-based side 2-1 at the Ohene Djan Stadium.

Both sides finished level on points and also even via the head-to-head rule, meaning they had to play a one-off game as the rules and regulations regarding competitions in Ghana stipulate to determine their standings.

Kotoko went jumped into the lead after 25 minutes through Ivorian striker Ahmed Toure, who was sent off in added time.

Fourteen minutes later, Kotoko were 2-0 up when Toure scored from the spot following a penalty awarded them after right-back Yaw Frimpong was brought down int he box.

But on the stroke of halftime, Medeama pulled one back through substitute Godbless Asamoah.
