Asante Kotoko put an end to the miserable start to the season on Friday night when they recorded their first win of the season after a 1-0 victory over Hasaacas at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The win comes on the back of two away defeats and two home draws and coach David Duncan who until the game was under massive pressure has Kwame Boateng to thank for easing the pressure.

Boateng, a new signing from Great Olympics scored to hand Kotoko all three points to move them out of the relegation zone.

The visitors, suffering from poor form rarely troubled Kotoko, who were also struggling to convince their teeming fans of their readiness to go the long mile of wrestling the title back to Kumasi.

Despite an early incursion in the area of Hasaacas, Kotoko could not threaten their former goalkeeper, George Owu, who was in post for the visitors.

After a goalless opening half, it had to take Kotoko some 25 minutes after restart before they could find the back of the net.

With some hope restored, their next focus will be their charge for the FA Cup.
