Kotoko keeps Cup hopes alive

Asante Kotoko thrashed lower division side, Danbort FC 3-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday to advance in the MTN FA Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors, whose league title dreams have long faded after a poor run to the first round of the campaign have the Cup competition as their only chance of a silverware this season.

Goals from Ahmed Toure, Nathaniel Asamoah and Michael Akuffu through a spot kick help the last FA Cup holders to dispatch Danbort FC, a second division side easily and secure a place in the Round of 32.

Medeama FC opened their campaign at their new Tarkwa grounds with thumping 3-0 win over premiership side, Real Tamale United.

Kabiru Imoro stunned his former side when he opened the scoring in the first half with a header before James Boadu grabbed a brace to wrap up victory within the opening 45 minutes against 10-man RTU.

Heart of Lions were 2-0 winners over K.F.C. FC at the Kpando Park.

In Wa, All Stars put three goals past Istanbul FC to progress in the competition while Berekum Arsenal run away 4-2 winners over Ajax at the Golden City Park.

Berekum Friction play BA Stars FC on Monday.
