Kotoko fail to stop Chelsea surge

The pressure is still weighing heavily on Asante Kotoko as they implode before their supporters losing 3-2 to Bechem Chelsea at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Asante Kotoko slumped to their sixth league defeat - their fifth in their last six games - as they could only watch Chelsea grab all the three points. They have only managed just a single point from a maximum of 18 in their last six games.

After storming to a 2-0 lead within 28 minutes with goals from Prince Boateng and Ofosu Appiah, Kotoko lost the plot completely as the league leaders pulled one back through Yaw Alexander going into the break.

Chelsea drew level on 59 minutes with Abdul Basit getting the equaliser and sealed victory when striker Emmanuel Clottey scored the winner.

The win sees Chelsea open a six-point lead at the top while Kotoko edge closer to relegation as they sit 13th on the 16-club table and are level on points with the third from the bottom club.

But at the Tamale Sports Stadium, Real Tamale United won for the first time in seven weeks, beating Kessben FC 1-0.

Kyeremeh Boateng's second half goal ensured that RTU picked their second win of the season so far though they stay bottom of the table.

Heart of Lions and Hearts of Oak shared the spoils in their 1-1 drawn fixture at the Kpando Park.

The Phobians drew first blood through Douglas Nkrumah in the first half but a late goal by Kweku Andoh salvaged a point for Lions to deny the former champions all the spoils.

Liberty Professionals were the biggest winners on match-day-13 with their 4-0 thrashing of B.A. Stars at the Carl Reindorf Park.

Moro Zakari grabbed a hat-trick as Guinea international Capi Somuah also scored for Liberty.

Elsewhere, AshantiGold picked all three points against champions Aduana Stars with striker Mohammed Yakubu scoring to hand the Miners a 1-0 victory at the Len Clay Stadium.

Mighty Jets fought back to defeat New Edubiase 2-1 at the Ohene Djan Stadium.

Emmanuel Baffoe gave Edubiase the lead but Mukason Mohammed drew Jets level before Kofi Owusu scored the winner in the second half.

Ten-man Berekum Arsenals drew goalless with King Faisal at the Golden City Park while All Stars and Ebusua Dwarfs played out a goalless draw at the Wa Park.
