Berekum Chelsea showed its Premier League title credentials on Sunday with a 3-0 win over New Edubiase, despite missing four key players on national duty.

Striker Emmanuel Clottey grabbed a brace with Abdul Basit also scoring to increase their point build up to 50.

Chelsea are 13 points ahead of their close contenders Asante Kotoko, who snatched a 2-1 win against King Faisal in a feisty late kick-off derby clash at the Baba Yara Stadium.

A brilliant individual performance by substitute Nathaniel Asamoah saw the striker dummy his marker in the box then beat an on-rushing defender when he poked the ball to the far corner for the opener in the second half.

Faisal responded with an equaliser from Asuandzie Baffoe who had the simplest task of tapping in after poor communication between goalkeeper Isaac Amoako and his defender had allowed a Faisal player to tread the ball across the face of goal.

But two minutes after the equaliser, Asamoah released Ahmed Toure, who cut in from the left, let go a 25-yard strike to the top corner to seal the winner for Kotoko in the 85th minute.

Medeama could only pick a point against bottom side, B.A. Stars in their goalless drawn game and are now placed third.

AshantiGold closed the gap on second place with a 2-0 home victory over Heart of Lions. Mohammed Aminu and Mohammed Yakubu scored a goal each for the Miners at the Len Clay Stadium.

Champions, Aduana Stars slipped out of the top-four after losing 1-0 to Ebusua Dwarfs courtesy a first half goal by Kwame Frimpong Pele at the Robert Mensah Stadium.

Elsewhere, Hearts of Oak's miserable season continued at the Wa Park where they fell to All Stars.

An 81st minute goal by Godfred Gyasi condemned the Phobians to defeat and leaves them just a point above relegation.

Two second-half goals from substitutes Kelvin Koukou and Michael Appiah handed Liberty Professionals a 2-0 win against Real Tamale United.

RTU are now a place above the bottom side on the standings.

Mighty Jets improved their chances of avoiding the drop with a 2-1 win over Berekum Arsenals at the Akosombo Park.

Silas Commey and Aaron Amoah scored both goals for the home side with Yakubu Seidu getting a consolation for the visitors.
