Greater Accra have booked their place in the final of the 2026 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship after producing a commanding 2-0 victory over Brong Ahafo in their semi-final clash at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence on Saturday, October 10.

The capital side made a flying start and maintained their advantage with a disciplined display, scoring once in each half to secure passage to Sunday's title decider, where they will face Western Region in what promises to be a compelling contest.

Desmond Asare set the tone with an early breakthrough, finding the net in just the third minute to hand Greater Accra a dream start. His lively performance earned him the Most Valuable Player award for the match, capping an influential contribution to his side's victory.

Brong Ahafo sought a way back into the contest but struggled to overturn the deficit against a Greater Accra side determined to protect its advantage and keep its championship ambitions on course.

The decisive blow arrived in the 72nd minute when Samuel Oduro struck to double Greater Accra's lead and effectively put the contest beyond Brong Ahafo. The second goal gave the capital side the breathing room they needed to see out the match and confirm their place among the competition's final two teams.

Greater Accra will now turn their attention to Sunday's final against Western Region at the GFA technical centre. The showdown brings together two sides eager to write a new chapter in the championship's history, with both carrying strong motivation to lift the trophy.

Western Region, last year's runners-up, reached the final after eliminating Prempeh Elite Academy on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the first semi-final. Having lost the 2025 title to Ashanti Region, they will be determined to go one step further this time and claim the championship.

Greater Accra will be equally eager to make history. Having failed to finish on the podium in last year's competition, the capital side have a chance to cap their impressive campaign by securing the title and establishing themselves among the leading regions in Ghana's youth football landscape.

Sponsored by the KGL Foundation, the Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship forms part of the Football Association's Talent Development Scheme (TDS), an initiative focused on identifying, developing and nurturing the next generation of Ghanaian football talent.

The tournament provides promising under-17 players with a competitive platform to showcase their technical ability, tactical awareness and potential while gaining invaluable experience against some of the country's finest emerging footballers.
