Greater Accra edged Prempeh Elite Academy 4-3 on penalties after a goalless draw in the headline fixture of Matchday Four of the 2026 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship on Wednesday, October 7.

The much-anticipated Group A encounter at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram produced an absorbing contest but neither side could find the breakthrough in regulation time. Greater Accra kept their composure in the shootout to claim the victory, while Prempeh Elite Academy’s Isaac Obeng was named Most Valuable Player.

At the betPawa pitch, Central Region recorded a convincing 3-0 victory over Upper East Region. Joshua Antwi opened the scoring in the 40th minute before MVP Bernard Appiah doubled the advantage in the 74th minute. Issaka Mahmoud completed the win three minutes later.

Western Region also prevailed on penalties, defeating Elite Academy, BIG Boss 4-1 after the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at the FIFA pitch.

Elite Academy, BIG Boss took the lead through Abubakari Ibrahim in the 43rd minute, but Bismark Yalley restored parity for Western Region to force the decisive shootout.

Northern Region secured a convincing 3-1 win over Volta Region. Sumaila Mohammed produced a standout performance, scoring in the first and 20th minutes to put Northern Region firmly in control. Hamza Chassei pulled one back for Volta in the 38th minute, but Abubakari Arimeyaw restored Northern Region’s two-goal cushion in the 52nd minute to seal the victory.

Eastern Region recorded their second win of the campaign with a 2-0 win over Upper West Region. Kamagate Ahmed struck just one minute into the game before Samuel Opare doubled the lead in the 38th minute. Eastern Region’s James Afful was named MVP.

In another key Group B encounter, Brong Ahafo defeated defending champions Ashanti Region 2-1, leaving the reigning champions without a win in regulation time after four matches and out of contention for the knockout stage.

Malik Ibrahim gave Brong Ahafo an early fourth-minute lead, but Emmanuel Koomson restored parity for Ashanti Region. Agbelengo Elvin, however, had the final say, scoring the decisive winner in the 74th minute.

With just one match remaining for each team, the group stage has reached its decisive phase. The final round of fixtures will determine the teams that advance to the knockout stage, with the battle for qualification expected to go down to the wire.
