Players and officials from all ten Regional Football Associations, together with the two GFA Elite Academies, are arriving at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram ahead of the 2025 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship.
Delegations from Greater Accra, the Greater Accra Elite Academy, Elite Bolga, Northern, Upper East, Western and Ashanti Regions were the first to arrive on Friday morning. Later in the day, teams from Volta, Upper West, Eastern, Central and Brong Ahafo Regions will join them to commence activities for the 9-day juvenile football tournament.
All participants will undergo screening and orientation on Friday, September 19, before the Championship officially kicks off on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
In line with the Football Association’s commitment to nurturing young talent, matches will be officiated by referees drawn from the GFA’s flagship “Catch Them Young” Refereeing Program. This initiative has already developed hundreds of promising young officials who have gained experience at the Division One level.
Now in its fifth edition, the KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship returns for back-to-back tournaments at the Prampram Technical Centre, following previous events in Accra and Kumasi. Since its launch in 2021, the competition has become a key platform for talent discovery, with numerous players earning opportunities to join Premier League and Division One League clubs.
The ten Regional Football Associations have each selected their best U17 players from regional Colts competitions to represent their regions, joining the two GFA Elite Academies in what promises to be another exciting showcase of Ghana’s next generation of football stars.
It will be recalled that in October 2021 the Ghana Football Association announced a landmark five-year, $1 million sponsorship agreement with the KGL Foundation to support juvenile football development, underscoring the continued investment in grassroots football across the country.
