Kevin-Prince Boateng returned to competitive action again for AC Milan, having been sidelined for several weeks with a recurring groin problem.

The Ghana international was a second half substitute as Milan beat Chievo Verona 2-1 in the Serie A on Sunday.

Boateng replaced Alexander Merkel in the 74th minute as the leaders recovered from their loss in Tuesday’s Champions League last 16 first leg defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

For Boateng, it was double delight as he hailed his return to action and the three points collected.

“I’m very glad about my return to the field. I’m very well," the Black Stars midfielder said after playing some minutes on his return to competitive action.

"These three points are very important, they’re worth in terms of the league table. Now we’ll have two days off, in which we’ll have the chance to relax and mentally prepare for the game against Napoli. We’re all happy about Pato’s goal. The fans have been very important for us. We called them for support, because we knew we needed it. And they responded”.
