Samuel Inkoom enjoyed his Swiss League bow but did not finish the game with the kind of result any debutant would have hoped for as FC Basel lost in their opening game on Sunday.

The Ghana international played the entire match for Basel against St Gallen and picked up a caution before his side who finished the match with ten men went on to lose 0-2.

Inkoom who was impressive in pre-season after signing on from Asante Kotoko in Ghana was handed the right back position.

But the young defender hopes to improve in the subsequent matches for Basel.

Inkoom stands a chance of making his European debut for Basel on Thursday when the Swiss side play Santa Colom in the UEFA Cup second qualifying round.
