Having booked their spot in the finals of the African Nations Championship - CHAN, Ghana coach, Herbert Addo is hoping to go a step further than the Black Stars did two years ago at the maiden tournament.

Ghana, last year's finalists confirmed their place in the second edition of the tournament after beating Burkina Faso 1-0 in Accra.

Bismarck Idan scored the only goal of the game for Ghana to claim their place at next year's finals to be hosted by Sudan.

Despite sealing qualification, coach Addo was not pleased with the play.

"I think our performance was not the best on the day though we managed to get the most important thing [qualification].

"The team did not play to their strengths and I was unhappy but we now look ahead. There's enough time to get down to work," Ghana's coach said.

Ghana were beaten by DR Congo in the final of that first tournament played in Ivory Coast.

But even before the Black Stars enter the competition, the team's coach has set his sights on improving on the past performance.

"[Milovan] Rajevac got the team to the finals [first edition of CHAN] but unfortunately we lost. I now have an opportunity to do same by first getting them to the finals and hopefully winning it in Sudan.

"We have a wonderful team and can still look around and bring in more talents. The team needs to work hard and we have to prepare well."

Other teams to have qualified alongside Ghana over the weekend for the finals of the competition are Niger who beat Nigeria to the slot, DR Congo, Senegal, Cameroon and Mali.

Ghana will be making another appearance at the finals of the CHAN with Sudan hosting the second edition of the competition designed by CAF for only home-based players of its member countries.
