Champions, Hearts of Oak suffer an opening day defeat in Glo Premier League on Sunday.

The title defence of the Phobians was dealt the blow at the Kpando Park where Heart of Lions strolled to a 2-0 win over Egyptian coach, Ayman El Yamani's side.

Lions carried their fine form in the off-season into the league as goals from Kofi Nti Boakye and Daniel Yeboah consigned Hearts to defeat.

After falling behind in the first half to a goal by Michael Ofosu-Appiah, Great Olympics levelled in the second half from a spot kick against Asante Kotoko.

Olympics finished with 10 men at the Ohene Djan Stadium Stadium.

Kessben FC earned the bragging rights from the derby clash against King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium.

With the game tied at 1-1 after a Mickey Osei's penalty for Faisal canceled out Prince Atakora Gyimah's opener, Kessben nicked a late goal to win the clash through James Boadu.

AshantiGold, who avoided relegation last season started off on a winning note after picking all three points at the Len Clay Stadium against Chelsea.

The Miners were 1-0 winners with the goal coming Daniel Asamoah.

Eleven Wise scored a second half goal through Sam Ayew Yeboah to draw 1-1 with Wa All Stars after the Blues had taken a first half lead through an own goal by Stephen Aidoo.

Newly promoted, Aduana Stars picked a point from their away game at the Golden City Park where they drew 1-1 with Berekum Arsenals.

Nurudeen Ali put the premiership debutants in front after 15 minutes but the Gunners drew level in the second half.

Real Tamale United and Hasacaas shared the spoils in a goalless drawn game.

The game between New Edubiase and Liberty Professionals at the Carl Reindorf Park comes off on Wednesday, October 28.
