Hearts of Oak pick first win of season, Great Olympics dispatch Gold Stars, Aduana FC pip AshantiGold SC

Accra Hearts of Oak beat Elmina Sharks 1-0 at the Nduom stadium on Wednesday to record their first win of the season.

Gladson Awako who joined from Great Olympics in the summer made his first Premier League appearance for the Phobians and scored the only goal of the match after his smashing long range effort took a deflection before zooming into the net. Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw Boadi and Osuman Awudu replaced Captain Ishmael Hammond and Daniel Nii Adjei in the starting line-up for Elmina Sharks.

Richard Attah was back in post against his former side after recovering from a sickness which ruled him out of the CAF Confederation Cup return leg against J.S Saoura.

Hero Gladson Awako was introduced in the 64th minute in place of Enoch Asubonteng and he hit the ground running straight away. The former T.P Mazembe man scored the match winner eight minutes on the pitch to give Hearts of Oak their first win of the season.

Hearts of Oak finished the game with ten men after Salifu Ibrahim for a second yellow card seven minutes to full-time. The win takes Hearts of Oak to 6 points after the win moved out of the bottom place with three games in hand.

Accra Great Olympics came out unscathed in their game against Bibiani Gold Stars as they cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win at the WAFA Wednesday morning. Goals from James Akaminko and Maxwell Abbey Quaye scored in each half to aid the Dade Boys passage over the Bibiani lads. Akaminko scored in the 18th minute before Abbey Quaye added the second in the 82nd minute to complete the rout. The win takes Great Olympics to 12 points after 8 Premier League games.

Dreams FC bounced back to winning ways with an impressive win against Karela United FC at the Theatre of Dreams – Dawu. Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scored his sixth goal of the season as the Still Believe lads clinched their 4th win of the season. The Ghanaian International scored in-between Ali Huzaif’s brace on Wednesday afternoon.

Dreams FC opened the scoring in the 8th minute through Ali Huzaif before Abdul Fatawu added the second inside 37th minutes to end the first half 2-0 in favour of the Dawu based club. Ali Huzaif again hit the back of the net in the 52nd minute with Umar Bashiru pulling one back for Karela United through a spot kick in the 86th minute as the game ended 3-1 at Dawu.

Joseph Tetteh Zutah scored the only goal at the Akoon Park to power Medeama SC to a 1-0 win against Legon Cities. The Medeama SC captain slotted home a nicely worked team play in the 23rd play to give the Mauves and yellows their second successive win following a 1-0 win over Real Tamale United on at the Aliu Mahama stadium on Sunday.

In Berekum Kofi Owusu scored a brace for Berekum Chelsea in a 2-0 win over WAFA at the Golden City Park. The former Premier League top scorer netted the goals in the 62nd and 87th minutes to get the Blues back to winning ways.

Augustine Okrah was the hero for Bechem United as he scored in the 52nd minute to give the Hunters a 1-0 win against Eleven Wonders in Bono derby.

Aduana Football Club extended their winning run to five after recording a slim victory over AshantiGold SC at the Len Clay stadium.  Midfielder Sam Adam scored in the 35th minute in a high tempo game Wednesday afternoon to take their points tally to 17 after 8 Premier League matches.

King Faisal had their winning run halted at the WAFA Park by Accra Lions in a 0-0 stalemate to end their winning streak.
