Just two games into the season and the premiership standings have been completely altered.

Accra Hearts of Oak and debutants, Berekum Chelsea are joint leaders at the top spot though the Phobians have a better goal difference.

Seven matches were played across the country yesterday as some sides bettered their opening day performances, others could not sustain the bright start while a number of them failed to turn things around. It’s early days though.

Hearts of Oak jumped to the summit of the table for the first time in a year – from last season’s poor showing – after coming from a goal down to beat Berekum Arsenals 2-1 at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra.

Osei Bonsu put the Gunners into the lead, heading in from a corner kick in the 5th minute before two second half goals from Obed Ansah and Eric Gawu handed the Phobians the three points.

AshantiGold were left ragged at the Baba Yara Stadium where defending Champions, Asante Kotoko won 3-1.

Alex Asamoah, who joined Kotoko this season from the camp of the Miners scored against his former club when he put the Porcupine Warriors in the lead in the first half.

Kotoko doubled their lead before the break through Stephen Manu before Daniel Asamoah pulled a goal back after recess.

Stephen Manu scored his second goal of the day to put the game beyond the Miners and it ended the bright start by the Obuasi club who went top of the standings on match-day-1.

At the Coronation, Berekum Chelsea continued their impressive start to their premiership debut when they beat Sporting Mirren 1-0 in a game between two new boys in the top flight.

Richard Atika handed Chelsea the three points that sees them share the top position the table while Mirren slump to the bottom of the sixteen-club table.

Liberty Professionals’ poor start to the season continued at the Wa Park where they were beaten 2-0 by All Stars. That was the second defeat picked by Liberty.

Salifu Issah put the Blues in the lead after 2 minutes before Bawa Mohammed struck the second goal of the afternoon in the 25th minute.

Goals from Kwame Adjagba and Kabiru Imoro helped Real Tamale United to a 2-1 win over Sekondi Hasaacas at the Tamale Sports Stadium. Richard Nortey scored Hasaacas’s goal.

Kessben FC failed to stand the might of Heart of Lions after going down 2-0 at the Kpando Park. Kofi Nti Boakye and Daniel Acquaye scored both goals in the 51st and 61st minutes for the Lions to win the game.

In Tema, King Faisal were beaten 2-1 by home side, Tema Youth. Edward Affum put the hom,e team in the lead but Basit Abraham drew level for King Faisal before Emmanuel Baffoe scored the winner for Tema Youth.

Earlier on Monday, Eleven Wise beat Gamba All Blacks 2-1.
