Asamoah Gyan kicked off his New Year on a good note scoring for Sunderland as the Black Cats strolled to a comprehensive 3-0 victory against Blackburn on Saturday.

The Ghana striker came off the bench to seal victory when he added the gloss on an excellent performance by curling home a late third after Danny Welbeck and Darren Bent had put Steve Bruce's side 2-0 in the first half.

Gyan has now scored seven goals for Sunderland in the Premiership since joining in the summer for a club record fee.
