Asamoah Gyan is relishing the opportunity of leading Ghana to the World Cup ahead of the decisive double qualifier with Egypt.

Tuesday's first-leg playoff match will see the Black Stars host their North African opponents at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Ghana, on the verge of making a third consecutive appearance know that anything less than a massive victory will mean that they must navigate a tough second leg to reach next year's finals in Brazil.

Gyan is rallying his colleagues to help realize the dream of qualifying.

“It will be a great achievement being the captain and qualifying the team to the World Cup," Gyan said ahead of the match.

For the Black Stars captain, the prospect of failing to qualify is not on their minds.

“We’ve come a long way and we’ve able to prove ourselves and we are now in the playoff now,” he said.

“This is a crucial game. We are more focused on this game and let’s see what happens. Mentally, everybody is ready on this game. Hopefully, we will make everybody proud and I will be very happy if I qualify the team to the World Cup.”

Two-leg ties will be played between both nations with the aggregate winner going to the finals in Brazil next year.
