Guinness rides on with the Stars

Months to go for the big Ghana 2008 fiestaand the beverage sponsor of the Black Stars, Guinness, do not only intend serving drinks but have strenghtened their pact with the senior national team, as they donate a bus for the teams travels.

On Friday, the international beverage producer handed over a 55-seater MCV Mercedes Benz bus, worth about 400,000 euro to the managers of the Black Stars, the Ghana Football Association.

Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited- GGBL also presented a cheque of $120,000 being the annual financial commitment to the Black Stars.

The bus which is branded in the national colours – red, gold and green with the Black Star, also has the Guinness insignia embossed on its sides.

The donation of the bus was part of the sponsorship pact between GGBL and the Black Stars which has been running close to a decade.

GGBL managing director, Seni Adetu after presenting the keys said the donation of the bus was to facilitate the movement of the Black Stars and technical team before, during and after the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

Seni Adetu, also expressed hope that the bus will go a long way in assisting the preparation of the team in their quest to win a record fifth title.

FA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, thanked Guinness for their commitment to the national team and said the donation also confirms the beverage-manufacturers as a reliable partner of the Ghana Football Association.

"This brand new bus befits the status of the Stars and I hope it will answer all transportation related problems of the team."

Guinness Ghana Brewery Limited has been associated with the Black Stars since 1998.
