Great Olympics' woes continue, Hohoe United maintain lead in Zone Three

Former Premier League side Great Olympics' disappointing season continued at their home grounds with an embarrassing 1-0 defeat against Home Stars FC. Boakye Kofi Yiadom’s spectacular finish in the 30th minute helped Home Stars FC secure the maximum points. That loss has seen Great Olympics grab just a single victory in their last fourteen successive matches (D7, L6).

In Kukurantumi - Port City FC secured the three points they needed to keep their Premier League qualification intact, beating in-form Na God FC 2-0 at the Ohene Park.  Prince Okraku and Bernard Quarcoo scored two crucial goals to seal an emphatic win for Port City FC. Prince Okraku opened the scoring in the 29th minute before Bernard Quarcoo added the second goal ten minutes later with a brilliant strike. Port City FC remain in the second position with 61 points, with just two games to go in the campaign.

Leaders Hohoe United maintained their five-point cushion at the Zone Three summit with a comfortable 2-1 win over former Premier League side Akim Oda Kotoku Royals on Sunday. Djanfarou Mumuni scored the first goal for Hohoe United in the 26th minute followed by Kwadwo Boamah’s lovely finish in the 49th minute before Clinton Kumi pulled one back for the home side in the 62nd minute. Clinton Kumi of Kotoku Royals was named player of the match. Hohoe United have earned 66 points from 28 matches in the league so far.
