Kumasi Asante and WAFA opened their Premier League campaign on a disappointing note after splitting points on match day one in Sogakope after a 1:1 draw.

Mohammed Aminu opened the scoring for the home side with a spectacular early free kick in the 3rd minute.

The Porcupine Warriors however, hit back through Yakubu Mohammed, when he swiftly connected to divert Jordan Opoku’s powerful drive for the equalizer in the 18th minute

Both sides were aiming for the maximum points, but the home side would be more disappoint for not grabbing the maximum points, considering that it was their opening home game.

At the Cape Coast Stadium, Ebusua Dwarfs welcomed Berekum Chelsea in their season opener, in a game which was very tight for well over an hour.

However just after the hour mark in the 68th minute, Dwarfs were awarded a penalty after Mustapha was brought down, and Amoah Mensah converted the spot kick for the only goal of the match.

In Obuasi, Ashantigold also kicked off their season on a winning note after defeating Wa All Stars by a lone goal. Shafiu Mumuni scored the all important goal to make sure all the points went to the miners.

Inter Allies’ emphatic 3:0 win over Bechem United means they lead the Premier League table after the opening day fixtures.
