GPL Week 7: WAFA Stun Great Olympics in Accra

West African Football Academy proved too strong for Accra Great Olympics beating them 1-0 in their Ghana Premier League week seven game played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Academy boys who came into the game on a back of a surprise home defeat at the hands of Liberty Professionals fetched the only goal of the game on the 24th minute through Eric Asamany.

Olympics started on a high pressing note in a bid to unsettle the visitors but found them a hard but to crack as they equally dealt with their forays into the goal area.

WAFA grew into the game and took over play push the host back with goalkeeper Joshua Opoku becoming their busier of the two goalkeepers.

Midfielder Amankwah Forson picked a ball in the middle of the pitch and found Asamany who raced pass the backline of the Dade Boys before hitting low shot pass Opoku.

Six minutes after jumping into the lead Sampson Agyapong early made it two after he tried to catch of guard with a surprise shot at goal which the latter managed to push over the line.

Back from recess the Dade Boys lifted their game with the introduction of Ashitey Ollenu, Emmanuel Amartey and Emmanuel Clottey and their presence brought some vite into the play of the host.

Ibrahim Sulley drew a great save from Ferdinand Acquah with a shot from behind the box in the 60th minute while Gladsons Awako's penalty appeal in the 62nd and 69th minute of the game was waved off by referee Abdul Hamid Sesay.

Awako was adjudged the NASCO match of the match.
