Government commited to Black Stars

Deputy Sports Minister Hon. Omane Boamah has reaffirmed government's commitment to supporting the Black Stars become African champions at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana failed to achieve their target of ending a 30-year trophy drought at the competition, Hon. Omane Boamah says lots of hardwork will need to be put in to turn things around the next time.

"We are all aware of the target we were hoping o achieve at the competition but unfortunately, we failed to achieve that," the Deputy Sports Minister said when he welcomed the team back to Accra on Sunday afternoon.

"This setback is a lesson for us all and the team will have sit down and correct the mistakes before the next competition. The government are committed to backing the Black Stars win the competition and we would offer every support.

"The next competition is some months away and have to start preparing now," he said.

The Black Stars came fourth on Saturday after losing to Mali 2-0 in the third-place game at the tournament eventually won by Zambia.

South Africa will host the 2013 Nations Cup.
