A stepped-up performance against Morocco has boosted Ghana’s confidence as the Black Stars prepare for Sunday's African Nations Cup quarter-final against Nigeria.

And after three wins in the group campaign, the Black Stars are not taking their eyes off a place in the final on February 10 where the dream of a record-equalling fifth title could be realised.

However, before reaching the finals, Ghana will have to clear two major hurdles as the Black Stars will first have to on Nigeria in the first quarter-final of the tournament at the Ohene Djan Stadium.

Ahead of Sunday’s quarter-final, Ghana coach, Claude Le Roy, assesses his opponents after Nigeria scraped through the group stages by goals difference over Mali on the final day on Tuesday.

"Nigeria are a very strong team but they have been having some difficulties, the atmosphere with them doesn't seem to be so good.

"We are fired up and ready to meet any side."

Claude Le Roy who watched Ghana play their best game in the tournament against Morocco is happy with the confidence that has engulfed the team’s camp.

"It seems that day by day we're becoming very difficult to beat. I've got the same feeling as I had in Morocco in 1988."

The French-born coach was making reference there to the year he led Cameroon to the title.

"With Cameroon we had to beat Morocco on the way to the final too, so perhaps that's a good omen."
