Ghana's team have arrived home after going out at the group stage of the World Cup.

The plane touched down in Accra, Sunday afternoon from Brazil with team captain Asamoah Gyan and some of the squad on board with the management of the Ghana Football Association.

Other members of the playing team who did not arrive with the squad to Accra, left for their various bases in Euorpe.

Ghana could not progress to the second round after losing their final group game against Portugal on Thursday before leaving their base in Maceio.

"We went to a tournament to make the nation proud but things didn't happen," Gyan said as he offered an apology to the nation.

"All I have to say is sorry to all Ghanaians for our performance."

The Black Stars were making their third-straight appearance at the World Cup.
