Ghana coach Sellas Tetteh would expecting an improved performance from the Black Satellites when they line up again for their second group game on Wednesday after drawing the opener 1-1 with Cameroon at the African Youth Championship.

Captain Andre Ayew had to put Ghana level after the Cameroonians had taken the lead, just some 34 second into the game.

The Black Satellites failed to claim all three points after having had several opportunities at goal.

The game was just 34 second old when a failed clearance by the Ghana backline afforded Jacques Zoua the time to take his shot from just around the box to beat goalkeeper, Daniel Adjei.

Ghana had plenty of the possession in the first half as they tried to build attacks through Andre Ayew, but the first real chance fell to the Black Satellites captain whose shot at goal deflected off a colleague.

Dominic Adiyah forced a brilliant save off the Cameroonian goalkeeper who tipped the striker’s shot round the post.

However, Ghana continued hitting back, and a move on the left side of attack was laid on for Dominic Adiyah who delivered a cross into the box. Andre Ayew managed to get infront of his marker, leapt to meet the ball and directed his header into the post for the equaliser in the 37th minute.

The Black Satellites had a glorious chance to jump into the lead before half time.

Andre Ayew went round his marker on the by-line and drilled the ball across the face of goal but Abeiku Quansah’s connection to the pass went straight into the arms of the Cameroonian goalkeeper, who had had been beaten by the earlier pass.

Nothing else of note occurred before the half came to a close.

Ghana begun the second half pushing forward but the physical Cameroonian side kept on halting play with their fouls.

Andre Ayew could have put Ghana in the lead but he headed the ball from a corner kick wide.

The trend of play never seemed to change with the Black Satellites outplaying their opponents.

The Ghanaian bench made their first change of the match when Isaac Donkor was sent on for Abeiku Quansah.

Ghana had a goal scored by Ransford Osei, who had a rather quite day disallowed by referee Kaoma Wellington for an offside late on in the game before the Black Satellites made their second substitution.

The next game for Ghana is on Wednesday when the Black Satellites play Mali, who lost 2-1 to hosts, Rwanda.
