Ghana drops a place on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking but still hold onto their sixth spot on the continental table.

The Black Stars who would be making another appearance at the World Cup finals in South Africa are now positioned 32nd

According to FIFA, only five matches have been taken into account in April’s edition, which was to be expected, given that there are only 43 days to go until the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.

On the African continent, Ghana are still positioned at sixth with champions Egypt, still sitting top followed by Cameroon, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Algeria in that order.

In the overall rankings, Brazil reclaimed the top spot from Spain, who drop to second and are followed by Portugal.

With no activity on the international match calendar, most of the changes in this edition of the ranking were due to the devaluation of past results.

Some teams have actually gained points due to the fact that the devaluation of poor results has led to a greater weighting of successful matches.

There is likely to be significant movement in next month’s edition of the ranking, the last before the big event in South Africa, as the 32 teams start their preparations in earnest by playing friendly matches to decide on their best line-up.
