Ghana looks for Wafu success

Ghana will be attempting another success at the West Africa Football Union Nations Cup which kicks off on Friday in Nigeria.

The Black Stars are paired with Burkina Faso, Liberia and Togo in the eight-nation competition.

An 18-member team of locals led by coach Herbert Addo departed Accra on Wednesday for the competition which will begin on Friday, April 9.

Herbert Addo has kept faith with majority of the players that ensured Ghana's qualification to next year's African Nations Championship (CHAN) .

Ghana's opening group game is against Burkina Faso, a familiar opponent after the Black Stars recently edged them out of the qualifying for the CHAN.

The competition is the first in six years since Ivory Coast hosted it back in 2004.

The eight-nation competition is constituted by countries in the sub-region and it will run till Sunday, April 18.

Defenders: Godfred Saka (Aduana Stars), Latif Mohammed (Great Olympics), Lee Addy (Chelsea), John Ashong (AshantiGold), Sabato Mohammed (Wa All Stars), Daniel Addo (King Faisal), Edward Kpodo (Tema Youth)

Midfielders: Jordan Opoku (Asante Kotoko), Malik Akowuah (Great Olympics), Edmund Owusu Ansah (Heart of Lions), Joseph Ato Bissah (Hasaacas), Abdul Bashiru (Eleven Wise), Daniel Acquaye (Heart of Lions)

Strikers: Abdul Aziz (Real Tamale United), Obed Owusu (Chelsea), Bismark Idan (Kessben).
