Ghana goes down on the table

Ghana has dropped a further two steps on the ranking table in the latest FIFA World rankings released today.

With no activity in both the African qualifying matches for the Cup of Nations and international friendly games, the Black Stars’ downward slide continued as they now went down from the 45th to 47th – two places down with 632 points.

Ghana lost a total of 39 points from the last ranking in September.

In the African confederation ranking, Ghana, host of next year’s Nations Cup are now placed 10th behind Tunisia who are at 9th and CAN 2008 group opponents, Morocco, taking the 8th position.

Nigeria remains Africa’s best side as they sit comfortably at the top followed by Cameroon. Guinea, another group opponent of Ghana in next year’s competition are 3rd while Namibia take the 25th position.

Also, the latest edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking has seen another change - the sixth this year - at the top where World champions, Italy has been dethroned from their position at the top.

Argentina, now head the rankings, Brazil are second with Italy dropping to the third position.
