In another major strategic step towards building an ecosystem for the nurturing of football talent in Ghana, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to join forces with Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS) to establish an Elite Soccer Academy in the Ashanti Region.

Led by Vice President Mark Addo, a delegation from the GFA paid a visit to OKESS on Tuesday, marking the beginning of an exciting partnership.

The goal of this partnership is to utilize the modern sporting facilities at OKESS to groom the next generation of football stars through the Elite Soccer Academy.

The decision to select OKESS as the location for this academy stems from its status as a mixed school, ensuring equal opportunities for both boys and girls to participate and excel in football.

This inclusivity aligns strongly with the GFA's vision of promoting gender equality and fostering talent development across all demographics.

Accompanying Vice President Mark Addo were key members of the GFA, including Technical Director Prof. Joseph Kwame Mintah, Director of Elite Academy Joseph Tetteh Zutah, Papa Nii Lartey - Head of Talent Identification and Development, and Jennifer Amankwaa Sarpong - Manager, Head of Women's Football. Their presence underscored the commitment of the GFA to this initiative.

The Ashanti Regional Football Association Secretary also graced the occasion, emphasizing the regional support for this collaborative effort.

In attendance from OKESS were the Headmaster, Assistant Headmasters for Administration and Academics, as well as the Physical Education Coordinator, who collectively expressed their eagerness to see the commencement of this ground-breaking partnership.

Speaking about the collaboration, Vice President Mark Addo expressed his optimism, stating, "This partnership will mark a significant milestone in our efforts to develop football talents in Ghana. By harnessing the resources and expertise of both the GFA and OKESS, we aim to create a nurturing environment where young footballers can thrive and reach their full potential."

The establishment of the Elite Soccer Academy at OKESS signals a new chapter in the development of football in the Ashanti Region, in particular, and Ghana, in general.
