Ghana exited the Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021 tournament after losing to debutants Comoros on Tuesday.

El Fardou Ben Nabouhane put the islanders ahead inside 4 minutes, and then Captain Andre Ayew was shown a red card in the 25th minute after a VAR review left the Black Stars with ten men for the rest of the match. Ahmed Mogni doubled the lead before the Black Stars fought back to make it 2-2.

However, Mogni tapped in his second in the 85th minute to inflict Ghana's first group-stage exit since 2006.

Coach Milovan Rajevac brought on Edmund Addo for Baba Abdul Rahman as he opted for the three back system following the red card to Andre Ayew.

Joseph Paintsil, Richmond Boakye Yiadom and Samuel Owusu were then brought on for Kamal Deen Sulemana, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Andy Yiadom.

Substitute Richmond Boakye Yiadom pushed in a header from a corner and levelled things up in the 77th minute from another set piece as Thomas Partey flicked on a corner and Alexander Djiku converted from close range to give the Black Stars renewed hopes. But those dreams were dashed five minutes from time when Bendjaloud Youssouf cut the ball back for Mogni to seal a the win for Comoros.

Ghana continued to commit men forward in search of a face saving point but the Islanders held on to win their first ever match in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The result leaves Ghana bottom of the Group C table with 1 point after three Group matches.
