The Ghana Embassy in Ivory coast on Friday called on the Black Starlets in Yamoussoukro ahead of their decisive WAFU Zone B U17 AFCON qualifying match against Niger.
The visit, led by the Head of Chancery Nana Akua MacCarthy, was aimed at motivating the team to go all out for victory in the crucial clash.
Nana Akua MacCarthy was accompanied by the Embassy’s Accountant Kate Goodlow and Confidential Secretary Priscilla Odai.
The delegation travelled from Abidjan to Yamoussoukro shortly before kick-off to meet the players and technical team. They encouraged the team to remain focused, disciplined and determined to secure a win that would boost their chances of reaching the final stages of the tournament.
In a heartwarming gesture, the Embassy delegation presented the Black Starlets with assorted Ghanaian dishes, giving the young players and officials a taste of home after several weeks away. The players, who have been based in Ivory Coast since the start of the tournament, were visibly delighted by the show of support and hospitality.
The Embassy pledged its full backing to the team and urged them to fight for a ticket to the grand finale.
The visit added to the growing support around the Black Starlets as they continue their campaign in Côte d’Ivoire with the ultimate goal of qualifying for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
