Black Damsels continued their impressive run at the CAF African Schools Championship with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Tanzania in the second group match.
After opening the tournament with a commanding win, Ghana was pushed harder by a determined Tanzanian side but ended up securing all three points thanks to a brace from Christiana Ashiaku.
Ghana struck early in the 6th minute when Ashiaku capitalised on attacking pressure to give the team a dream start.
Tanzania regrouped and fought back into the contest, testing Ghana’s defence and eventually pulling a goal back to level.
However, Ghana restored their lead shortly after the restart when Christiana Ashiaku struck again in the 36th minute, calmly finishing to complete her brace and put the Damsels back in front.
Despite late pressure from Tanzania, Ghana held firm defensively to secure a 2–1 victory, maintaining a perfect start in the competition.
The win places Ghana in a strong position in the group standings as the team prepare for the final group match against Burkina Faso tomorrow, April 7 in Harare.
