Black Queens will begin the quest for a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games in the second round of the African qualifiers, where the team is set to face the winner of the first-round tie between Mauritius and Djibouti.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the preliminary schedule for the Women’s Olympic Football qualifiers, with Ghana earning a bye from the opening round due to a superior ranking on the continent.
This means the Black Queens will avoid the first hurdle and wait to meet either Mauritius or Djibouti in Round Two of the qualification series, scheduled to take place from October 5 to October 13, 2026.
Aside this round, the Black Queens will still need to successfully navigate three additional knockout rounds to secure one of Africa’s limited slots at the 2028 Olympic football tournament.
