Four trainees from the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence have been called up into the national U-17 side preparing for the final round of qualifying for the 2011 African Under-17 Championship.

The quartet arrived in Accra last Friday as Ghana host the first leg game against Senegal on Saturday.

Samuel Asamoah, Hamza Zakari, Samuel Darko and Abraham Annan would all compete for places in the Black Starlets team as coach Frimpong Manso aims for a win against the Senegalese.

But the Ghana coach says his team thrives on teamwork and he expects his latest additions to blend well with the rest of the squad.

“We don’t rely on a particular player, as we play as a team. Every player is key to the success of the team,” he said.

Fourteen remaining teams will face off in the final round of qualifying later in November to see which of the seven teams joins host Rwanda for the 8-team African Under 17 Championships beginning January 7-22, 2011.
