Venue: Baba Yara Stadium - Kumasi

Date: June 3, 2011

A dominant second half performance by the Black Stars sees Ghana claim a 3-1 win against Congo in the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier on Friday in Kumasi.

Isaac Vorsah and Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu grabbed debut goals for the senior side with Prince Tagoe also scoring as Ghana maintained their fine form in Group I at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Ghana extends their points to 10, three ahead of Sudan who play Swaziland over the weekend in the fourth round of qualifying.

The Congolese finished the game with 10 men following a second half red card to Abdoulaye Bruce for pulling down Kwadwo Asamoah who was racing towards goal.

Vorsah opened the scoring in the 62nd minute, heading in from a corner kick to the back post.

Five minutes later, the Black Stars doubled their lead when Tagoe who had come close to scoring in the first half, headed in from close range after substitute Dominic Adiyiah's shot at goal had come off a defender in the box.

Ghana kept a solid backline revolving around captain John Mensah with John Paintsil and Daniel Opare.

However, the visitors forced themselves back into the game, pulling one back in the 75th, after Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson mis-hit his clearance outside the box, with the ball coming off Moussibu Massamba and rolling into goal.

Agyemang-Badu capped a fantastic performance when he struck a 30 yard shot into the upright to put the game beyond the Red Devils three minutes later.

Congo in the first half forced Ghana's Daniel Opare into clearing a corner kick off the line.

But the Black Stars settled and had the best chance of the opening half when Tagoe missed from close range after Congo goalkeeper Massa Munkala had spilled Michael Essien's fierce shot.

Ghana coach, Goran Stevanovic made use of his bench, sending on Adiyiah, Andre Ayew and Derek Boateng for Kevin-Prince Boateng, Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien.
