The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has reaffirmed the Association’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling the promises made by the Executive Council, with a strong emphasis on capacity building across all facets of the game.
Speaking at the 31st Session of Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, the President noted that the Football Association has remained steadfast in delivering on commitments outlined in his previous addresses to Congress, particularly those made during the last session at the same venue. Highlighting the GFA’s achievements since the last Congress, the President revealed that 750 coaches have been trained and certified across license categories D to B, significantly boosting the technical expertise available in Ghanaian football. This large-scale investment, he stressed, is aimed at improving player development, enhancing tactical understanding and raising the competitive standard of domestic and youth football. He underscored the GFA’s continued drive to improve officiating standards. As part of this effort, the Association has advanced the training of existing referees while expanding its talent pool through the Catch Them Young Refereeing Policy. This flagship initiative has already trained 2,561 boys and girls, creating a new generation of match officials poised to serve at the highest levels of the game in the years to come. “Our continued investment in capacity building remains a top priority.
