
The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has hailed the successful organisation of all domestic competitions over the past six seasons, describing the feat as a testament to the resilience, professionalism and growth of Ghana football.
Addressing the 31st Session of Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, the GFA President reflected on a period of consistent progress, noting that the Association has, for six consecutive seasons, successfully delivered both regular and off-season competitions without major challenges.
Over the past six years, the GFA has organised a full calendar of football activities, including the Ghana Premier League (GPL), Women’s Premier League (WPL), Division One League (DOL), Beach Soccer, Futsal, and the FA Cup in both the male and female categories.
These competitions have provided vital platforms for players, coaches, and officials to develop their craft while engaging fans and communities across the country.
President Simeon- Okraku emphasised that Ghana’s domestic competitions have continued to thrive, with the GPL, WPL, and DOL consistently producing promising talent and maintaining a strong competitive spirit. He acknowledged that while the successes are commendable, the GFA has also identified areas for improvement and strategic growth to elevate the standard of the game even further.
“We have successfully organized all our domestic competitions, both regular and off-season for the sixth consecutive season without major challenges. These competitions included the GPL, WPL, DOL, Beach Soccer, Futsal, and the FA Cup (both Male and Female categories). Throughout this period, we have identified areas for improvement and growth. Our domestic competitions continue to thrive, with the GPL, WPL, and DOL consistently showcasing promising talent and a strong competitive spirit." he said.
The GFA President reaffirmed the Association’s dedication to continuous improvement, pledging to address identified gaps while introducing new initiatives to enhance the quality, visibility and commercial appeal of Ghana’s domestic football ecosystem.
