The President of the Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, on Monday, October 27, 2025, led a delegation from the FA to visit the family of the late former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, to commiserate with them following her passing.

President Simeon-Okraku was accompanied by Vice President Mark Addo, General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, and Executive Council Members Samuel Aboabire and Eugene Noel Nobel. The delegation was also joined by the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams.

The visit, which took place at the Rawlings residence in Ridge, Accra, provided an opportunity for the GFA leadership to express their condolences and share in the grief of the bereaved family.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed away at the Ridge Hospital in Accra at the age of 76. She served as Ghana’s First Lady during both the military and civilian administrations led by her late husband, former President Jerry John Rawlings, from 1979 to 2001.

Beyond her distinguished role as First Lady, Nana Konadu was a trailblazer in women’s empowerment and political activism. She founded the 31st December Women’s Movement, a pioneering organization that championed women’s rights, social development and community advancement across the country.

Her lifelong dedication to public service, advocacy for gender equality and tireless pursuit of national progress have left an indelible mark on Ghana’s socio-political landscape.

The GFA leadership expressed their continued support and prayers for the Rawlings family during this difficult time, honoring the memory of a woman whose impact extended far beyond politics into the very fabric of Ghanaian society.
