The Football Association has organised a one-day training workshop for Women’s Premier League (WPL) Match Commissioners ahead of the start of the 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League season, which officially kicks off on Friday, October 31, 2025.

The workshop, held at the GFA Secretariat in Accra, forms part of the FA's continuous professional development programme, aimed at equipping Match Commissioners with the latest updates on competition regulations, reporting standards and administrative procedures to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated start to the new season.

Opening the session, GFA Vice President, Mark Addo, expressed his appreciation to the Match Commissioners for their dedicated service to Ghana football. He emphasized their critical role in upholding the integrity, professionalism and operational efficiency of the league, urging them to continue discharging their duties with fairness, diligence and commitment to excellence.

The Head of Women’s Football, Barbara Yankah, provided an overview of key updates and expectations for the 2025/26 season, while Joel Ahadzie took participants through the use of the Competition Management System (CMS) to enhance accuracy and timeliness in match reporting.

In addition, Integrity Officer, Obed Tuffuor, led an interactive session on integrity and ethics in football administration, reinforcing the GFA’s zero-tolerance stance on misconduct and match manipulation. Participants also received a refresher on the latest amendments to the Laws of the Game, ensuring uniform understanding and application during matches.

The workshop concluded with remarks from GFA General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo, who commended the Commissioners for their commitment and underscored the importance of professionalism and consistency in ensuring the continued growth of women’s football in Ghana.

The Match Commissioners’ Workshop sets a positive tone for what promises to be an exciting and well-organized 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League season, as the GFA continues to strengthen structures and capacity across all facets of the women’s game.
