The nationwide Competitions Management System (CMS) training exercise has been successfully held for the Brong Ahafo Regional Football Association (BARFA) as part of the  Football Association’s ongoing efforts to digitize and modernize football administration across all levels of the game.

The three-day training programme brought together BARFA officials, club representatives, referees and match commissioners ahead of the start of the new season. It forms part of the GFA’s broader CMS implementation plan aimed at enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of football competition management nationwide.

The sessions were led by the GFA’s Head of IT, Francis Adu and his assistant, Caroline Anyanful, who guided participants through practical modules on the use of the upgraded CMS platform. The training focused on equipping key stakeholders with the skills needed to manage fixtures, track match data and streamline administrative processes digitally.

For the first time, Second and Third Division clubs as well as Women’s Division One League clubs in the Brong Ahafo Region will utilize the CMS for their league matches. The initiative represents a major step in the GFA’s drive to extend digital operations beyond the elite divisions to the lower tiers.

During the exercise, a total of 147 referees were registered on Wednesday, followed by 65 match commissioners on Thursday. The programme covered essential areas such as tracking player cautions and expulsions, monitoring match statistics, and improving data integrity in regional competitions.

Similar CMS training sessions have already been conducted for other Regional Football Associations, including Central, Ashanti, Upper West, Eastern and Greater Accra regions as part of the nationwide rollout.

The introduction of the CMS at the regional and lower-tier levels is expected to significantly improve operational efficiency, transparency, and data management within domestic football competitions.

The Association has set a two-year target to fully integrate all levels of Ghanaian football, including Colts competitions into the CMS platform, a milestone that will mark the complete digital transformation of football administration across the country.
