The Ghana Football Association (GFA) congratulates the University for Development Studies (UDS) for their outstanding performance at the ongoing World University Football Championship in China, urging them to go for the ultimate prize.

UDS has been impressive so far in the global competition, recording two convincing wins to secure qualification to the quarterfinal stage. The team defeated the University of Sharjah from the United Arab Emirates 2-1 in their opening game before securing a commanding 4-1 victory over Ramon Llull University of Spain in their second match.

With Schools and Colleges being a Member of the Association, football in all educational institutions falls under the Association’s football structure. It will be recalled that prior to the tournament, the GFA supported UDS with some kits and also made the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram available for a one-week residential camping to aid their preparation for the global championship.

General Secretary Prosper Harisson Addo (Esq) has commended the team for flying Ghana’s flag high on the international stage. He emphasised that their performance showcases the immense potential of Ghanaian University football and the positive impact of the Association’s continued support for Schools and Colleges football.

“On behalf of the Ghana Football Association, I congratulate UDS for their outstanding performance on the global stage. Your journey to the quarterfinals of the World University Football Championship is a testament to your hard work, dedication, and the incredible talent within Ghana’s universities. We are proud of you, and we urge you to remain focused and go for the ultimate prize. The whole nation is behind you.”

The GFA further expresses its belief that UDS has what it takes to go all the way in the competition, urging the players and technical team to stay focused and determined in pursuit of the ultimate trophy.
