The Football Association, in collaboration with the University of Ghana’s Department of Physical Education and Sport Studies, continues to strengthen grassroots football development through the ongoing License D Coaching Course.

The program is designed to equip aspiring coaches with fundamental knowledge in football coaching, to enhance player development. As part of the course, a safeguarding session was delivered to participants, focusing on the critical responsibility of ensuring the safety and well-being of children in football.

The session highlighted the various forms of abuse that young players may be exposed to and provided practical guidance on how coaches can recognize, prevent and respond appropriately to such risks, creating a safe and supportive environment for every child.

The lecture also addressed key situations that increase the vulnerability of young players, including pushing children beyond their physical abilities and allowing them to participate while injured.

Emphasis was placed on the duty of care required from coaches to prioritize the health, safety and long-term development of players, reinforcing the importance of safeguarding as a fundamental pillar in the growth of Ghanaian football.
