Former Ghana coach Osam Duodu passes away

Former National team coach, Fred Osam Duodo has passed away after battling illness over the past weeks.

The 1978 AFCON winning coach  passed away Tuesday evening at the Korle-bu teaching hospital where he had been admitted.

The late Osam Doudu won the African Cup of Nations with Ghana in 1978 and also coached in other African countries, including Gambia where he led them to lift the  2005 U-17 African Youth Championship trophy.

He won the 1993 African U-20 Nations Cup and a silver medal at the 1993 FIFA World Youth Championship after a similar feat on during the African U20 Championship.

He was Ghana’s coach during the 2002 African Cup of Nations, held in Mali.

He also coached senior national team the Black Stars at various periods from 1978 -1981, 1988- 1989 and also in 2002. 

He acted as technical director and General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association at a point and was the president of the Coaches Association. 

He was also a CAF and FIFA Instructor.
