The Football Association has announced the first batch of participants for the Licence D Coaching Course in the Greater Accra Region, with 40 aspiring coaches set to begin an intensive training programme from September 12 to 21, 2026, at the Liberty Stadium in Dansoman.

The 10-day programme is designed to equip participants with essential technical knowledge, practical coaching skills and a strong foundation for a career in football coaching.

Combining classroom-based instruction with practical training sessions, the course will provide participants with hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the principles and demands of modern coaching.

A key component of the programme will be GFA/FIFA Safeguarding training, which will equip participants with the knowledge and understanding required to protect the welfare, safety and development of young players.

The initiative forms part of the GFA’s broader commitment to strengthening football development at the grassroots level by creating a growing pool of qualified, knowledgeable and responsible coaches capable of identifying, nurturing and guiding emerging talent.

The training will be supervised by GFA Technical Director Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah and Head of Coach Education Dr Prosper Nartey, who will provide technical direction and oversight throughout the programme.
