The Football Association has participated in FIFA’s official kick-off meeting for the 2026 Women’s Football Commercial Strategy Programme.

The virtual global session brought together representatives from all 12 approved Member Associations (MAs) selected for this year’s programme and served as the formal launch of FIFA’s tailored commercial support initiative designed to help federations build sustainable revenue models for the women’s game.

As the only African Member Association selected for the programme, the GFA was strongly represented at the meeting, with officials from the GFA Women’s Football Desk, leadership and marketing units joining discussions on the programme’s objectives, structure and implementation roadmap.

The kick-off session was designed to set the tone for the programme, outlining a strategic commercial pathway intended to strengthen the marketability and long-term financial sustainability of women’s football. Discussions focused on key phases of the initiative and the collective ambition to elevate women’s football into a more commercially viable and professionally structured space.

The meeting also created an important platform for engagement between FIFA’s Women’s Football Division and participating Member Associations, enabling direct collaboration on tailored strategies to drive growth within each federation’s women’s football ecosystem.

Among the key outcomes of the session were detailed discussions around implementation timelines, commercial audits, brand development strategies, and the creation of sponsor prospectuses to help participating associations and clubs better position themselves for commercial partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.

A major feature of the programme will see each Member Association assigned a dedicated FIFA Commercial Consultant to provide ongoing guidance throughout the process. Participating federations will also benefit from group workshops, knowledge-sharing opportunities, and peer-learning sessions among the 12 selected Member Associations, fostering collaboration and the exchange of best practices.

For Ghana, participation in the programme represents another significant step in the continued growth of women’s football, following sustained efforts to strengthen structures, improve competitiveness, and attract greater investment into the women’s game.

With the commercial strategy programme now officially underway, the GFA is expected to leverage FIFA’s world-class expertise and support to build stronger commercial foundations for the Women’s Premier League and create lasting value for clubs, players, and stakeholders across the women’s football landscape in Ghana.

Following the global kick-off, there will be seven sessions (six online sessions and one in person session) from May to November, 2026.
