The stage is set for a thrilling finale in the Elite U15 Boys Colts Championship after the completion of the final group matches on Saturday, which confirmed Northern Region and Ashanti Region as group winners.

In Group A, Volta Region and Western Region opened the day with a cagey 0-0 draw. Volta Region went on to win the penalty shootouts by 4-1. The second match saw Upper East Region fall 2-0 to Northern Region, with Murtada Mohammed Adam striking first before Shamshudeen Sulemana sealed victory from the penalty spot on the stroke of full time.

In the group’s final encounter, Greater Accra Region pulled off a surprise by defeating leaders GFA Elite Academy Kumasi 1-0 courtesy of Enjoy Mensah’s decisive strike. Despite the loss, the Academy’s earlier form was not enough to reclaim top spot, leaving Northern Region to finish first in the group.

In Group B, the GFA Elite Academy Bolga produced a stunning 4-1 victory over Upper West Region. Elisha Akansin opened the scoring before Kangpeng Abdulai leveled for Upper West. But the Academy regained control, with James Adu Boahene, Kwara Abdul Baari, and Abu Boahene (who grabbed a brace) ensuring a comprehensive win. The Brong Ahafo Region drew 2-2 with Eastern Region. The two goals for the Eastern Region were scored by Nomo Owen while while Oppong Prince and Amoako Promise scored for the Brong Ahafo Region.

Benjamin Owusu Ansah and Kumbabel Charles scored twice for the Ashanti Region to register a 2-0 win over the Central Region. The Ashanti Region’s earlier consistency across the group stage has seen them finish top, setting up a mouth-watering final clash with the Northern Region.

With all group games now concluded, the much-anticipated grand finale will see Northern Region, the surprise force of Group A, take on Ashanti Region, the dominant side from Group B, in a battle for ultimate glory.

The championship decider on Sunday promises to showcase the very best of Ghana’s budding football talent as the two strongest regional teams face off for the coveted title.
